Born during the dark ages, Tevye started his life out as a full-blooded witch. His father was among the elite of society, and like many within his station he believed the lower classes were there for his pleasure. It was this belief that allowed him to claim many members of the lower class as his lovers. Tevye's mother was one such witch. She came from among the lowest of witch's society. She didn't possess much in the way of magic but was said to be so beautiful that the sun would shy away from her for days at a time. When news of his father's new lover spread people were only surprised that someone hadn't laid claim to her sooner. The truth was they might have, but her father knowing the fate that was in store for her if a member of the higher class caught sight of her took care to keep her hidden. It was only happenstance that Tevye's father stumbled upon her. His mother's appearances didn't garner her any special treatment from his father. He treated her like any of the other lovers he had claimed, which was very poorly.
When she became pregnant, Tevye's father made it perfectly clear that just because she carried one of his seeds to term didn't give it a place among the higher members of society. Any child she bore would share her fate in the sense that it would be nothing more than an object for his pleasure. Knowing that she was powerless to keep him for doing whatever he willed with any child she might birth Tevye's mother concluded that it was best she kept herself from carrying any seed to term. Yet, her efforts were in vain. No matter what she tried she couldn't end her pregnancy--even attempts upon her own life proved to be useless. Eventually, she ended up giving birth to not one child but three--Tevye and his two sisters. The birthing process proved to be extremely hard upon Tevye's mother and she passed away not long after. True to his words, Tevye's father treated Tevye and his sisters as nothing more than objects for his pleasure---whatever that might be. It goes without saying that their childhood was extremely rough. The level of cruelty that their father forced them to endure for his own pleasure knew no bounds.
Tevye did his best to protect his sisters from their father's torments, but he was powerless against their father's most determined assaults. Both his sisters would end up perishing as a direct result of their father's cruel pleasure. The first died when they were eight. Their father had her drawn and quartered simply because he wanted to watch someone be torn to pieces. It could have easily been any one of them as their father literally made them draw straws to determine who would endure such a fate. The second died eight years later at the tender age of sixteen. Both Tevye and his sister proved to possess great amount of magic, and their father found great pleasure watching them fight various beasts. It was within one of these fights that Tevye's other sister lost her life, and their father expected Tevye to follow suit as his sister was regarded as the more talented of the two. However, that didn't come to be. Whether it was simple timing or a result of watching his sister be killed before him Tevye entered his second puberty and as a result gained access to his specialty.
It became clear to everyone gathered to watch the fight that the specialty that Tevye possessed was a rare one, and within it his father saw the means to gain control of witch's society. He sought to use Tevye as a tool to make himself king of the witches. Due to this desire his treatment of Tevye changed. Make no mistake, he still regarded Tevye as an object of his pleasure, but he was now a prized possession and as a result harnessed all the benefits of such a status. Upon seeing his second sister killed by their father's desire, Tevye decided he would not serve his father's pleasure any longer, but he knew at that while he could stumble to a victory over his father that it was best to bid his time for a moment when there would be no doubt over the outcome of a confrontation between father and son. Tevye soaked up everything that his father taught him until the day that his father decided was his time to put his plan into action. He summoned a meeting of the clans and told Tevye to kill them one by one until they declared him king. It was within that moment, Tevye made it perfectly clear that he was not going to be his father's puppet by taking his head.
He then turned to those gathered and told them they best silence any declaration of kingship for him. While he had no idea if they wished to declare him king, he had no desire to be such. He was going to kill every last one of them, and from their corpses he would raise a new world. However, he was not going to end them all at his very moment. He would give them time to gather all their strength to stand against him, but some of them would die this day just to make it clear how serious he was. He decided who lives was going to be forfeited that day by forcing them to draw straws--much in the same manner that his father had decided his and his sisters' fates growing up. Those who drew the shortest straws were unceremoniously killed, and he left them to ponder their next course of action once the deed was done. There was no doubt within their mind he intended to carry through with his threat, but some believed that he could be convinced to take a different course. They began to look for ways to make this happen. While others believed his destruction was the only way and sought to gather their power just as Tevye had instructed them.
Whatever path they chose there was no doubt that a great war has broken out, and Tevye was not an adversary to easily overcome. Not only was he a force to be reckon with on his own but seemed to draw the lower classes to his side. They tried to prevent them from joining Tevye by telling them that he sought to destroy the world completely rather than remake it. This did little to discourage them. Some denied their accusations while others welcomed the idea. It became clear that Tevye had inherited his father's thirst for cruelty, but unlike his father it was not done for the sake of his most base desires. This caused some of those who sought to reason with him to change tactics as they believed that those who were cruel for the pleasure of it could be controlled while those who were not couldn't be. The war raged on for many years, but despite the terror and destruction that Tevye rained down upon them would gain victory thanks to his lover--a female witch who decided for whatever reason to betray him. Some say she did so out of greed. She had been promised great status to change sides. Other say she did so to save a sibling. While others claimed she did it to save Tevye from becoming a noroci.
Whatever the truth, she switched sides and helped put an end to his terror. However, it was decided that it was best not to kill him. He could return and restart what he intended either through rebirth or some other means. They decided that the only way they could truly stop him was to seal him and his powers away within one of the creatures of Asmiara. They chose the common octopus for reasons that isn't exactly clear. Some said his lover had been the one responsible for such a decision and she picked the octopus because of his fondness for them. Others claimed that octopus was chosen because it is believed that the octopus was the best creature to keep him imprisoned. Whatever the reason, they plan worked and it didn't take long for things to return to the way they had been. They had to crack down hard upon those who refused to fall in line, but with Tevye out of the picture they didn't stand much of a chance.

Time blended together while Tevye found himself imprisoned within the octopus and as such he has no idea how much passed before he found some released. It was a little at first--barely noticeable but each passing day he gained more and more freedom. However, try as he might he was unable to completely rid himself of his cell and this put great limitation upon his abilities. There is no doubt within his mind that he will return to what he had once been because each day he overcomes more and more of those limitations that his prison has upon him. One day he gained access to his human form, and while he knows he isn't yet ready to resume what he had started all those years ago he believes this means he is that much closer. He decided to use his newly acquired access to his human form to explore the world and gain a better understanding of what had changed since he had been sealed away within the octopus. It didn't take him long to discover that the dark ages had ended and that while witch society still had its flaw that cruelty that the lower classes had to endure by the upper class had pretty much come to an end.
While he likes the direction witch society has taken, he isn't certain he should abandon his plan. He senses the corruption lingering beneath and suspects the only way to be truly free of it is to burn everything down and start anew. However, for the moment he will just observe. It was during one of these observations that he came upon a young witch named Leda, and he decided to take her in. It might said he made this decision based on the horrors her adoptive parents forced her to endure, but the truth is it was her resembles to his deceased sister who had died when he was sixteen that played more of a role in his decision than anything else. He convinced her to come with him by telling her that he was his familiar, and while he is certain the truth will come to light one of these days this doesn't stop him from caring for her in the manner, he's certain a familiar would. Under his care, she has flourished in ways she wouldn't have if she had remained with her adoptive parents. He enjoys watching her blossom in the manner she has and some part of him want to find other children in similar situation and help them do the same.
